Wonder if anyone has used Eurostar for any overseas journeys and any tips, hints I am thinking of going to Belgium this year by train instead of flying It seems sensible just in case the Volcano erupts again and seems less faffing around in queues at the airport Last hols the airline lost my bags so for two days had no luggage i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/angry.gif

I've been on Eurostar to Paris. Very good, efficient ( ran to time ) clean, comfortable. Only downside, the cost of parking at the station ( we went from Ashford,Kent ) it cost a fortune to park!!

I'll be going on it in August!! Decided to go on that instead of flying. More or less the same cost and if the volcano decides to have another go, we can still get home

Like on lots of trains, there are bits at the end of the carriages, where you can pile cases and still see them.

Well my first journey on Eurostar completed and was reasonably impressed It would have helped if an announcement was made to say when going into tunnel and also when we got to France and then into Belgium Only reason knew was when my moby kept bleeping me to tell me ie "Welcome to France" etc Very fast and comfortable and much much preferable to flying

Glad it went well Jenny. Not quite the same but me and my sis went to France last week by Eurotunnel, you know, with the car, and found it all very efficient. Will do it again, especially as we can pay by tesco vouchers so next year it will cost nothing!
Erm, are you in Belgium now then? If so, have a great time!

No am back now Ruthie - my other friend who came with me was amazed - he hadnt been on Eurostar before - - no queues - no faffing about at customs going thru bags and stuff - quick thru passport control too I just hate the queuing at the airport - handing in bags at the Check In none of that as you take them all on board with you and no baggage weight restriction either All Good
