Mostly the Dutch from the word go although Spain has done their fair share - however the foul from De Jong was a red card foul - bloody dangerous to kick someone in the chest....bad news I am afraid.
I do hope the trainers tell them all to calm down for the second half at least - I doubt there will still be 22 playing at the end though.

There were lots of fireworks apparently - folk were obviously feeling very positive and were very prepared. Perhaps they were going to have parties even if they didn't win ;D Paul the octopus is retiring apparently - he's done with his 15 minutes fame. I don't know why Howard Webb is being massacred by the media. I thought he had a good game. The Dutch are bleating about his performance and not awarding a free kick just before Spain scored but they kicked their way through the final and deservedly lost the game. Van Bommel and De Jong could both have been red carded in the first half.
I wanted them to win it before it started but was glad that Spain came out on top. The Dutch ruined the world's biggest football match by general thuggery and bad sportsmanship.

Me too. Webb was right in not red carding in the first half cos the game would have descended into mayhem - but, that's not to say that several Dutch players wouldn't have deserved it..Van Bommel and de Jong especially. I expected the Dutch to play good football, but they were a disgrace. Hold your heads up English officials - you could have done no more!! |
