Yes, exactly my sentiments SO. The second half of August seems to have gone in a flash - perhaps this is a dream and it really is still August! i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif Actually I was surprised to see loads of conkers lying idly - unloved and unwanted - on the side of the road last weekend. At one time of day they would have been gone in an instant, but of course it's too dangerous to play conkers now, without body armou and a helmet!

Coldest August for 17 yrs apparently - so I expect we were all hibernating and missed it I love September we usually have lovely weather down here, I can start sorting out the garden, take more cuttings.......and.........there's something special in the middle

We have had the coldest and wettest August since records have been taken....awful flooding in places with people losing their lives and homes. It is so cold that last night it snowed in the Alps - you know that 'orrible white stuff...memories of 3 months snow from last winter are still very much in my mind.....
This morning my OH and I started cutting back the front garden for winter - we got rid of all the bedding plants, dug up a couple of shrubs that had bitten the dust and just managed to get back in before the rain started again.
Acorns are down, Conkers, leaves are already turning yellow and coming down - apples are falling far too early....erm..not a great deal more to be said is there....
I am hoping to have the garden cut back and totally ready for winter in another 4 weeks...if it stops raining long enough..and if I can beat the first snow!!

The year is certainly rushing by, mind you August was so grotty here I'm quite glad to see the back of it. September is looking quite promising atm, have just popped out for a break & it's gorgeously warm & sunny, more like July.

I agree with Auricula, in this county too September and October are beautiful months, usually warm and sunny and often follow a slightly grotty August ! It's been a gorgeous day here and it's still 22 degrees out there now I like September and October I usually go to The Malvern Autumn Show at the end of Sept and the weather's normally lovely I'm going senile What i actually came here to say was .... i think as you get older time goes quicker ! The work i do gets me booked up a few months in advance .... i've got bookings Christmas week Shhhhhhhh Don't say that word

I think time does fly by, that is why I don't get much housework done, no time ;D How can you be looking forward to cooler weather FA? Has you been somewhere warm then? It has been bruddy cool here most of the 'summer' apart from a couple of weeks so far back in the year I can't remember them Don't mention the 'C' word until November! x Tig
