OK....for folk who love Christmas earlier than December, we now have our own thread. I can confess now...I bought some sweets for the boys' stockings this morning. This year will be a real break from tradition as we are going away but we are going to have stockings when we get back as we will have to be a bit more restrained on this visit to the US as the luggage allowance has been cut drastically. You are very organised getting pressies wrapped now MRH i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/cheesy.gif

Thanks for starting this thread Jasmine, at least there'll be no offending folk who'd rather wait. I'd forgotten you're going away, it will be very different but so exciting for you all. I was in Crabtree & Evelyn today buying their gardeners hand therapy and decided to buy some products for a friend for Christmas. She's a mum of 2 and a nurse so always on her feet. I bought her Extreme Foot Therapy, Revitalising Foot Smoother and a pair of Silk Socks to put on after she's used her treatments. I've bought a little stocking filler from the book club that comes to my work for Jenny. It's a lovely little hardback book called Perfect Cupcakes, Cookies and Muffins. With 2 young children she'll make good use of it and it will be her present from Suki the cat ;D. When I was at the Indian festival the other week in Botanic I bought a few beautiful shawls/scarves that I thought would be nice stocking fillers for the girls too. Oh and instead of tins or perhaps as well as, Hero's are doing big boxes of their sweets. I bought 2 the other week one for the folk in the Chemist I use and the other for the Health Centre staff. I've made a good wee start.

You have made a good start LG and you reminded me that I've done more. I'm glad you do prezzies to and from your pets...we do too ;D I saw that little cupcake book in amongst one lot of books in the staffroom. It would look lovely just sitting with a bunch of other cookery books with its cute piccies. I think Hero's have changed their tins to boxes to be more environmentally friendly although have to say I like tins and always make use of them afterwards. I don't mind sending cakes into school in them as it doesn't matter if the tin doesn't come home! I bought 2 tins of Quality Street on offer last week as I know we will get asked to send in choocies or wine for tombola stalls at the school Christmas Fair and I just can't send the boys on the bus with wine ;D I've started to buy the books the boys get at Christmas - The Guiness Book of Records, West Ham annuals and so on.

I forgot too that I've knit 2 Aran jumpers for my friends little boys. They're a wine colour and will look great with little jeans. The boys are only 1 and 3. I'm knitting another one the same for my Sister's little Grandson.

I can't remember which book folk it was MRH - can you LG - we get so many piles of books. I like buying things when I see something that would suit someone. I always end up with the tricky folk, like my FIL, and I'm having a panic right close to Christmas as I still don't know what to get.

I had a little check Jasmine and MRH, it's still in it's bag and it is the book people. You can go online for them too although I've not done it. Might 'tho. The thing is to remember where you put everything. Jenny (my Daughter) bought things last year early and then forgot all about them and bought more presents for the same folk. ;D

When OH decided to insulate the loft last w/e the whole thing had to be emptied. All the boxes etc...had to come down - didn't realise how many boxes we have just of decorations. Then they went back up after he'd finished. Don't suppose we'll get them down again this year apart from the boys' Advent Calendars.

I want new decorations ;D I know my OH won't let me buy any though because we don't "need" them Since when does THAT have anything to do with it?! Pfft! Anyhoo, I start buying everything this week. I know exactly what I'm getting everyone. Well, everyone apart from my best friend. She did have a £60 present for her birthday, but it was her 30th so it warranted it. I dunno what to buy her now. She might end up with vouchers tbh. Mum is easy to buy for, Dad isn't but he likes wine, cheese, brandy etc so that's sorted. Not buying for my siblings this year, will tell them not to bother either. They might get a little something... And as for my boyf... I'm having to STOP coming up with ideas for him!! ;D

I often think it would be easier to buy new each year than drag down all the decs boxes and try to find what you want. I miss Woolies for that sort of thing - they always had loads of colours and did buy 2 get 1 free.

I loved woolies for those things too. They had the greatest selection of sweets too. What a pity they're gone. Having said that Jenny and I were just talking about decorations and you know the likes of B&M shops do great value baubles etc.... It's as cheap to buy at least some new shiny ones every year. ;D

Been trying to find this Thread - sent you a PM Lady so ignore it I took the Knitting Book to bed last night to look thru it and see what I want to start knitting <shriek> <shriek> <shriek> It has been written by an American author so all the instructions are "American" - is stockingette stitch stocking stitch i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/undecided.gif And the wool and yarn is only available in the US although it does give alternative am afraid I cant work it out i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/sad.gif

I'm glad you found the thread as I'd been looking for it for you. Stockingette would be stocking stitch and pretty much any double knitting would be similar so long as you try to keep your tension right. It should be straight forward enough to follow. Just choose something you like the looks of in terms of wool.

I bought 2 jars of mincemeat for my pies, but only because it was on offer at Asda, and I didn't want to miss it.

And I've nearly finished the shopping for my OH. Just 2 more things to get him from ASDA next time I go/shop. They're not special things though so they can wait.
