You been to Scotland then Louisa? I made 2 dozen minced pies this aft, there are less than 12 left now, I've had one, so there is a real greedy piggy in this house Good job I made double quantities of sweet pastry, half is in fridge so that I can make some more on Thursday. x Tig

I love the presents at Christmas but they don't have to be expensive. We open ours on Christmas morning. A few years ago Jenny made us all individual stockings with our names on them so we hang them up on Christmas eve. Usually on the fireguard. ;D

I put my presents under the tree and open them on Christmas morning. Stopped putting a mince pie and glass of sherry for Santa though, he has a large tummy and a red nose, so I reckon I shouldn't encourage him in his unhealthy lifestyle ;D

Oooh, be careful Jasmine - 2 women in a kitchen can be a fraught experience ;D ;D I hate anyone being in the kitchen with me ( even if they just want to chat). When the children were small we used to open presents in the morning, but now we go to the beach, have a walk and drink hot chocolate at the beach bar.Opening the presents after Xmas lunch gives a point to the afternoon

Glad there's some good news Spru! As for what I do Xmas day.... Usually wake up at stupid o'clock: The latest I've EVER slept on xmas morning is 8:30am... lol Even the morning when Dad and I didn't get home from the pub until 3am, I was still up before 8am ;D "Santa" had to get back out of bed after we'd got home to put the presents under the tree. Anyway, this year, I'll be doing my usual waking up too early, then phoning my Mum and Dad straight away and shouting "He's beeeeeen!!!" down the phone. Then I'll open my pressies. Then we'll have a full English breakfast. Or maybe not if I've got to cook it. Then we're going visiting the outlaws and then up to my parent's for dinner and staying over. I intend to get inebriated and eat too much. And watch Dr Who Xmas special ;D Then I'll be depressed on Boxing day because it's all over for another year

My MIL is just smashing. I will do my bit and she'll do her bit...and we will drink lots of wine while we do it! I can see saving prezzies til the afternoon if there are no over excited small people about. Saying we open our prezzies in the morning, it doesn't always work out like that as OH has to work some Christmas days so we fit prezzies round his hours if we have to. The boys are quite good like that as they've grown up with it.

If anyone needs a relaxing time Carolann it's you and OH My Dad worked on London Transport, when everything ran as normal, on Xmas Day, so we were brought up like your boys Jasmine - we worked around whatever shift he was on. You learn to be adaptable ;D

You do don't you Auricula. I think just as long as children know that prezzie time has a slot in the day then it is ok. I quite like waiting - it gives something to do in the afternoon.

When OH was little ( he's one of 3 children) they always, all opened their presents on their own, in their bedrooms . This continued all the time he lived at home. When he first spent Xmas with my family he couldn't understand the concept of opening pressies communally. He was very embarrassed and it took him years to get used to it ;D. Even when we had our kids, OH opted to be "santa" and dole out the pressies,so he had something to do and didn't feel so conspicuous ;D
