This is a bit daft but my OH was thinking back to the last time we were in the UK which is 6 years ago now and we always went to a fish and chip shop near my Mum's.
We were trying to remember what they cost but only got as far as remembering that we didn't have much change left over from a fiver for us both.
Just out of interest, even though my mouth is watering: what do fish and chips cost in the UK these days?? Is there a difference between the North and the South??

Battered fish is £4 and chips are 90p small, £1.50p large portion at our local chippy. I think a large pot of mushy peas is 80p. Must get dearer as you move Sarf x Tig

At BHS it's £5.95 per portion but they're not as nice as chippy style ones.
It's over a fiver at our local one anyway... but the chips are lovely!

We dont get much change from a tenner for 2 fish and chips with peas of course. Our local chippy does nice fish though. We dont eat it very often about twice a year.

We've just had fish and chips in our favourite restaurant in Eastbourne. Fish and chips was £5.20 per person. I felt the portions weren't as big as they usually are but it is scrummy fish and chips. I couldn't see the take out prices.
