As some of you know we have been trying to find out if our dear friend Biggles/Kath was OK. The last news that we received from her was that she had heart problems.
I am so very sorry to say that Kath passed away last Saturday and Susiesnowdrop has been in touch with her daughter. Her funeral is this coming Wednesday and Susie is attending on behalf of all GWD members.
Kath was on GWD right from the word go... a valued member.
Many thanks Kath and our condolences to her family.

'Biggles' had been poorly for some time, and never really got over the loss of her husband, less than a year ago. I have spoken to her daughter, a lovely lady, who was really pleased that I had got in touch on behalf of GWD. I shall attend the funeral on Wednesday on behalf of all of her friends on here.
A lovely, lovely lady, with a wicked sense of humour and a very big, kind heart.

I am very sad to hear of Kath's passing and would like to express my sincere condolences to her family.
Kath was very passionate about GWD and although she chose not to take up a staff role she was involved in the project from the outset. She was always keen to join in with our various activities and I know that she appreciated the opportunity to share her gardening experiences with us and to post photos of her lovely garden.
I never met Kath, nor have I even spoken to her but I still feel as though I have lost a dear friend, who will be very sadly missed.
Also a special thankyou must go to SusieSnowdrop for agreeing to represent us all at Kath's funeral.

Very sad news, she was so pleased when she won that prize for her work with the 'tiny' garden and the community space at their new flat - she will be missed by many.

Please send all my love to her nearest and dearest. As Spru said, although I never had the blessing of meeting Kath, I knew I liked her. Because I was AWOL from GWD for a while, I wasn't aware of what was happening so this very much of a shock.
Bless her xxx

This is something Kath loved - she said she would save it and play - one of "our" favourites - it is quite sad but I wanted to post it

Such very sad news indeed she will be missed by many but never forgotten. My sincere condolences to her family. She is gone
You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

I was so very sad to hear that dear Kath had passed away. She was a lovely lady, witty and funny as well as sensitive and kind. I loved reading about her gardening exploits and we all loved to view her photographs. I am not a religious person, but I do believe that when two people are so devoted and spend such a long time together they form a bond that can never be broken. I hope that some part of Kath is with her beloved Eric again. I'll not forget her, and we will miss her. Rest in peace Kath.

What extremely sad news. She was so devoted to her husband and must have found his loss so very hard to live with. I hope they are together somewhere now. I always enjoyed her company and personality on the gardening messageboards and appreciated her great knowledge about plants and gardening. It was good to have known her. Thank you Biggs X

I am so sad to hear that we have lost Kath, I know she hadn't recovered for the loss of Eric and was feeling lost. The last time I heard from her was a message just before I left for my six weeks holiday, I have tried to get in touch but wether she was at her daughters I dont know. Its such a shame that we put off things as were so wrapped up in our own problems, I know I regret not making more of an effort my only excuse is my own family problems depressed me so much I just didn't think to try and contact her. God Bless Kath I hope that she is at last reunited with her lovely Eric. Im afraid I cant go to the funeral, as Wednesday is the day we visit my 96 year old Mother in law and as usual we have to put our own family first but I certainly will be thinking of her and her family.

What lovely and thoughtful things you have all had to say about 'Biggles'. I'm sure Kath's daughter will take great comfort in realising just what a popular lady she was and how very much she will be missed.
Thanks everybody.

We have been asked by Rita on Wellies, Wheelbarrow and Wildlife if we can include some condolences from her members that are not registered on GWD.
As this thread is purely to show our respect for Kath, we see no reason not to include them.
