I've always loved books too, but I have got a kindle & I must say there is one huge advantage. I tend to read a lot of fantasy & historical stuff & by there very nature they tend to be big books, usually about 700 pages of more I also love reading in bed, but with a big book I find it really hard to get comfortable (especially with hardbacks). My kindle's got all my favourites on it, but it's as light & small as a tiny paperback & it's got a built in light too that hangs over the top, so I can get really comfy. Jillyx One reason I didn't bother with a kindle was because I didn't think that my sort of book would be available...I read mostly fantasy and science-fiction...so, they're available are they? I get through about a book a week and usually buy 4-5 books every month...

I don't pretend to know much about this Cheery, I leave the technical stuff to OH, but I believe that the kindle accepts any books available to download on-line not just from Amazon. Something about having to convert files into different formats I've got the whole of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time on mine & you wouldn't want to cart that lot around in book format Jillyx You can e-mail books in other formats to your kindle account. They are then converted to Kindle format and downloaded onto your Kindle. Some of the books on Gutenberg are already in Kindle format. I downloaded what I wanted to my computer then cut and pasted them onto my Kindle via USB.

I love reading and get through several books a week. I could never read in bed - don't know how anyone does it...sooo uncomfortable. I don't have a Kindle, but don't rule out ever getting one....these things tend to creep up on us I love crime novels and belong to a book group called "Coffee and Crime" run by St Ives library.

Crime stories/ thrillers are my favourite too or any lawer ones.It depends on my mood.I've often thougth ot being part of a book group or club. Jenny is and writes reviews. I would'nt hesitate to buy a hardback if one came out and I just could'nt wait until it comes into paperback. The thing nowadays is not to actually have a hard back but they're still big heavy books. I also buy quite a few books from charity shops, it does save a good bit of money and I like a little browse.

The only time I get to read books is in bed...for about an hour before I start nodding off. I prefer hard backs as they lie on the pillow better than paperbacks.....never buy 'em....we have a decent local library ;D
