How does Blue Angel manage to put on such a display year in and year out when some clems can hardly make it up their support!

I like the clems with little bell like flowers, are they easy to grow?

That looks great Jasmine, how do you get it to bloom at the bottom.?

Really easy Auricula - I don't do anything! Blue Angel gets cut back nearly to the ground in spring and then it does all that by itself!!! It is growing up a wigwam of 8ft hazel poles and I think it flowers at the bottom Ladygardener as technically those are shoots that haven't gone up but are twisting through the lower flowers!

I'd love mine to do the same but they only seem to bloom at the top.

I had to search to find this thread - I needed it because my Clematis from Tig is in bloom. She says it's 'Empress'. And here's 'Lasting Love'. My 'Guernsey Cream' on the obelisk is full of flowers this year. The other one on the wall at the back of the wide border is also flowering well, but I can't reach it.

I'm sure the top one is Empress Geranium, here's mine growing round the same obelisk as an unnamed supermarket one (which I think we identified as the President). It doesn't normally look this good, but they've both put on a lot of new growth this year & are both flowering at the same time. I love Guernsey Cream, especially with the dark foliage it's with.

Some beautiful clems and combinations of them. It seems to have been a good year for most of them, although I have a couple that are doing less well, most have romped away Mrs Cholmondeley with her enormous blooms, almost matched in size this year by one of it's partners (must look at my list and work out which one it is!) This is the first time Empress has flowered for me, worth the wait Not sure about this one Love the subtle colour of this, was a rescue with no label Duchess of Edinburgh Ville de Lyon Carnaby Sieboldii This side of the pole is Niobe with Rouge Cardinal on the other side

They are doing well this year Tig aren't they, love your little rescue. Fond Memories Probably but not definitely Ville de Lyon Niobe, who wants to flower mostly on the ground this year Hagley Hybrid

I am still waiting for Fond Memories to perform! I hope it is happier now I've got it in a sunnier position. I think my 'rescue' could be Scartho Gem Jilly I think that is deffo not Ville de Lyon - but is probably another 'Frenchy' Comtesse de Bouchard Here is Marie Boisselot My Ernest Markham, never as dark as it is sometimes shown And this is a new one I bought, Pink Fantasy It is a bit weird as it has two types of flower at the same time - the pink stripy ones and then these, which I love and this should have been Margaret Hunt! But it is still pretty with it's fluffy extra petals in the middle

Must get a couple of pics. I am not sure whether the one that I have left is Arabella or the one that I had to take out with the climbing rose but Arabella does flower for weeks and weeks - normally June to end of August and longer even Ladygardener. Pink Fantasy is rather nice Tig, especially with the added fun of another flower type....yes, I rather like that one, certainly one to look out for!! RF
