I have one and I wouldn't be without it. Biggest twin helped me to get to grips with it and I really love being able to get on the internet away from home...namely in the GC when I come across something in the reduced section and I want to find out more about it. ;D Wouldn't go back to a non-smart phone.

Nope, Ruth gave me one but I could'nt use it. Jenny and Ruth both use theirs and as far as I know they would'nt be without it. The phone I have now has internet access but I've blocked it because it kept logging on and I was charged at a daily rate. I'm happy enough without the internet to be honest.

Nor me, I only use my mobile occassionally anyway. If I go out for a drink with friends I ring hubby to come pick me up when I'm ready, I text the kids and that's about it really. OH has got an Android smart phone, not an i-phone. He loves his gadgets though and has loaded hundreds of apps onto it He only uses it on t'internet when he can get a 'free' wireless connection x Tig

I would never waste my money on a smart phone reason being i realy dont need one in my life. I have a nice pink touch screen phone thats pay as you go because i dont use it all that much i text on it quite a bit though. It always nice to have it there for any emergency. And for family to get in touch at all times.

Found out today that my neighbour has a Blackberry, its her sons old one. She only uses it for txts and calls but says she loves it, big screen, a keyboard like a pc. She took a while to get to grips with it but wouldn't want to go back to her old style phone now So I've looked on Play.com www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/-/1020/1265/3-/HardwareBrowse.html and am I right in saying Blackberry is the brand name, rather than a type of phone, sorry if I sound thick but I'm still not sure. If so what is an IPhone and what is Android

Yes, Blackberry is a brand name as is IPhone. Anything with "I" in front is an Apple product.Android is similar, but is a Google product - at least that's how I understand things to be.

Yes, Blackberry is a brand name as is IPhone. Anything with "I" in front is an Apple product.Android is similar, but is a Google product - at least that's how I understand things to be. Morning all. Thought I would post my experience of smart phones. I've had an android phone for about a month. Mine is what would be called a cheap version of an iphone. It's a touch screen HTC Wildfire. And boy it is a touch screen gone "wild". I have phoned someone at 1.30am by mistake as screen is so sensitive you can't always get it to cancel any touch errors. So sometimes I can't end calls either. My son has told me thought he can hear that my phone is still in my pocket. I was playing a game on it on the bus and dropped it and the screen shattered. Took it to a local phone shop and it cost me £30 and that was cheap. I went in other places which said around £50. It is quite difficult to get to grips with the touch screen but now I'm getting used to it. Next time I would probably get a blackberry which has a proper QWERTY keyboard. Or spend hundreds of pounds more and get an iphone. I've been tole even iphone can play up too though. Hope that is clear as mud, Auricula i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/undecided.gif Now for a strong coffee. I'm out on the razzle in my home town of Surbiton in Surrey with my old schoolfriends tonight. Last time (2years ago) we all made complete fools of ourselves but it was great fun.

That was quite 'cheap' to repair the screen PJ. Auricula, the boys have a purpose made clear film over their screens as a friend's daughter dropped her ithingy and it cost £50 to repair the screen so we insisted they used the one that came with their ithingys.

It's not breaking it that frightens me....it's using the touch screen - I can be a bit ham fisted

I wonder if the film cover slightly slows down the ability to slide across plain glass...

I am a total dinosaur when it comes to mobile phones. I have a simple one which makes and receives calls, and that's it. I don't text because I can't do it. However, my daughter has an iphone and an ipad, and she uses them all the time, as does my 10-year old grandson. She thinks they're wonderful. That's probably no help at all, Auridula.
