My 100ltrs of Perlite got delivered today. I'm very pleased and looking forward to using it at the weekend to plant on some of the seedlings and cuttings.

I am pleased Isabella - I have to say that my cuttings are fantastic - the roots are better then ever before... I shall definitely have to take less cuttings this autumn as I have not got my usual losses..
What I am looking forward to seeing is the difference in tubs as I am going to add perlite to all my toms, peppers and spud tubs...
I shall also try to take cuttings in autumn of things that I have never had success with...

One thing that I feel needs to be said and LG found this out as well is that as Perlite is totally sterile, plants/cuttings may need a small amount of fertilizer (low strength) as the leaves tend to go yellowy...
Otherwise everything I did in Perlite was good.

I'll certainly be using it for cuttings from now on and young seedlings too.

I am the proud owner of a bag of perlite. My peony rockii are in a bag in the fridge in a mixture of seed compost and perlite.

Yes it is and never ever wear dark blue/black t-shirts when you are using it....I thought I would never get it off.....it gets everywhere!!
I am thrilled with the results but I will add a tiny bit of fertiliser to stuff after a while next time...

So did you just use plain perlite and no soil of any sort RF?

Both - the best results I had were pure perlite for cuttings....the roots were marvellous...as I say the only thing to watch for is a total lack of fertilizer. However that is a good thing to get cuttings over the winter as it stops them getting leggy and generally going barmy.
However they do need some kind of food in the spring - the ones that I added compost to have done a little better (grown bigger) together with the the ones that I gave a little fertilizer to (halved the normal amount) than the ones that have had nothing....
