;D they've got the devil in them Jilly Fortunately mine is too high for Cat to bother with, in fact I reckon she isn't a very 'festive' cat at all! She hates visitors so will spend all weekend sulking - outside! The minute someone comes in she makes a bolt for the door, and the palaver to coax her back in is ridiculous Tonight she has been full of mischief, despite her years, and decided that my arm needed attacking - biting and scratching at the sleeve of my fleece. Think she gets a bit bored when it's cold and wet, she just spends most of the day asleep. OH doesn't like scented candles or oils, but I might try and sneak one in when he isn't looking x Tig

You could try to sneak in a very small one Tig! I like the Yankee candles you've got Jilly. I noticed Cherries in snow this year at Wyevales and 2 Christmas reed scents - don't know if they're new - don't think I've seen them before. We had an invite to friends for New Yesr last night so I've more shopping to do now!

That game sounds good Auricula, there's nothing like a joint effort in attack mode!
I've just got back from town. I whizzed round getting the last Christmas prezzies and if I hadn't had to wait for the building society to open I'd have been home before 9.30!

Actually, I do have one more gift to get. I was planning to get a nice bottle of ginger beer for a non-drinking friend and I'd seen some at the GC up the road - they didn't have any when I called in just now so it's plan b but I don't know what that is yet! ;D

I'm just back from town, gosh it was busy but at least all the tills were attended so at least I did'nt have to stand in a que. I got some mulled wine in M&S I like the odd glass of it, more the smell of it than anything really. I had to go into town because I had to go to the bank, the Tax man sent me a little cheque for Christmas, I'd overpaid in 2010 so I did have a bit of a wait for it but it was nice to get it all the same. ;D Good to see you back Auricula, did you get all your wine and cheese? Jasmine half the bother of buying pressies is knowing what to get.

Thanks so much for the idea Geranium. It's a man though and one who thinks the garden does itself apart from the lawn!! He gave up alcohol to help him lose weight and it worked a treat. I couldn't do without my red wine! I know what you mean about mulled wine LG - it smells so Christmassy!

Does he read? Something like the 'Guinness Book of Records', possibly, if he hasn't got favourite authors.

That's an idea Geranium. Do you get AG? There's an article on Amaryllis this week. There's some stunning ones to choose from.

I'm going to buy a scented room candle tomorrow........OH doesn't have a good sense of smell so I bet he doesn't even notice ;D His antipathy towards candles comes because I can't resist playing with them ( tipping them up and so forth) and I usually manage to drip wax on furniture and soft furnishings I also burn myself quite regularly because I can't leave them alone Still haven't marzipanned my cake or made mince pies

I have a friend who can't leave candles alone. It's OH that plays around with them in this house. I keep finding my Yankee candles have had the edges of the jar scraped down. They don't needing scraping - they burn perfectly.

Guilty as charges I have set fire to napkins, dripped wax on a leather sofa and countless tabletops and had to throw out a linen tablecloth because the underlying wax stain from a puddle couldn't be covered up - perhaps OH has a point ;D

It's difficult to do Jasmine. I spilled the whole dish of hot wax the other week, all over the floor, coffee table and the burner itself.

:oI don't know what shocked me more Jas, the fire or the jumper ;D. Those scented candles take my breath, most candles do actually thank god for electricity. ;D ;D I bought a friend a present that has cheese and biscuits and chutney, but I'll have to tell her when I deliver it tomorrow because it has to be kept in the fridge,.
