I don't mind the little ones - it's the big ones who are just on the scrounge that some folk must find quite threatening.

That's a nice idea Missy! Hallowe'en was banned at school very soon after I started teaching.

Why was that I wonder Jasmine. Missy that's a good idea I have mixed feelings about the door to door thing myself. I like it when the little ones come round accompanied by grownup's but find the big ones a bit scarey.I always buy a load of goodies for them and if they don't come round I have to eat it myself.

It was because Hallowe'en had pagan roots and wasn't originally Christian LG. I buy multi bags of sweets and don't give out any money.

We dont get individual carol singers either just the Round Table with Santa on it...the carol singers congregate on the village green..it is lovely as they have lanterns with them too..

I've always quite liked Yuletide me....I'm not religious but I see the winter solstice (not a pagan) as a brilliant excuse to spend time with family ;D This year for the first time (apart from when I was ill in 1998) I am NOT working on 25th OR 26th of December...coo...
OH is out of work so I'm making presents...getting very Blue Peter about it all....so far I've made 2 really nice multi-stranded bracelets....am going to make my own chocolates etc...more bracelets and brooches...etc. The only people I'm buying for are my Dad, OH, sons, Grand-daughter and DiL, and they'll only get a small present each. It will be a struggle but we will be able to celebrate still.

It's all those family traditions that make Christmas Cheery isn't it - I was surprised how much the boys missed all the extra sort of bits (not the prezzies under the tree) when we were away last year.
