I met my husband in Majorca two weeks before my seventeenth birthday. He was 19. We were both holidaying with our parents, and even managed to bump into each other again after we moved hotels It was definitely fate ;D

We met online. I still lived in Bratfudd and as I was skint and had nothing else to do, I was online a lot. He'd just had an operation, couldn't get about much and he was also online a lot. We happened to be in the same chat room, made each other laugh.
Went into private messages and then to texting and phone calls and then he came up here to visit me about 2 months later after I'd moved back home to my parents.
He moved up here on my birthday about 10 months later after driving up from Bedfordshire practically every weekend and everytime he had a week off to see me. Bless him!

We used to work together. I was PA to the CEO and he worked in another department. I used to have to go over there a lot and we started to get to know each other ;D What a lovely thread - I can't wait to read more romantic meetings

I've got my ex-wife to thank for meeting Mrs FA. After I split from my first wife, she left me with the mortgage and all the bills to pay. To make ends meet, I took a 2nd job, working part time in the bar and coffee shop at our local leisure centre. Mrs FA was an aerobics instructor there (still is, in fact) and I mentioned to a mate that I thought she was "well fit" ;D He told her and then she studiously avoided me for about 3 weeks. One evening I was working and it was just before closing time. I looked up from cleaning the fridge (how romantic ) to find her standing in front of me. I said hello and before I could say anything else, she asked me out for a drink the next night. Unfortunately, I had to go to Wales for a few days so I said no and she thought I was turning her down but I asked for her phone number and promised to call as soon as I got back, which I did. The rest, as they say, is history....... FA x

i met my OH through my sis. she met him at an all night party and thought he was very sweet but far too young for her. i lived with my sis at the time. he kept ringing up to speak to my sis as he had a video player to give her. she was out most nights with her boyfriend so i was left at home to answer the phone and take messages. we got talking and it was sooo wonderfully easy to talk to him. i felt like i had known him my whole life. weeks later he finally came round to give my sis the video player and we met!!!! the rest as they say is (as andy said) history...... ;D ;D ;D
that was 12 years ago. xxxxxx

:)i'm just wondering how every-one met their OH. We met at a party neither of us should have been at - I skipped college and OH to be should have been at work. The party was on 31 July 1965 upstairs above a dry cleaners. I was most surprised when OH to be turned up on the doorstep the next morning! We were married the following March 26, 1966. Three children (2 boys, 1 girl) two grandsons and 41 years later, we still manage to have a good laugh each day.

Mike and I met on a beach on the Caribbean Island of Dominica. I was on holiday while going through veterinary school. Mike was on holiday after finishing medical school. I was picking up some shells from the beach and saw a tiny squid stranded on the sand from the receding tides. I scooped up the wee squid and waded out to release him back into the water. As I walked back to the beach suddenly I saw THE MOST DROP DEAD GORGEOUS MAN walking toward me. <catchmepleaseI'mswooningsmiley> He had watched my dramatic rescue and thought that was a cool thing to do. We just started talking and three days later he asked me to marry him! OMG! Why did he wait so long? Was he having second thoughts? LOL! We married three months later and that was 23 years ago.

I met Patrick when I was living in Stoke Newington. He came round to play music with my flatmate. I had a friend round at the time and Patrick thought he was my boyfriend. My flatmate had talked about Patrick and I thought I already had an idea I would like him but I thought he was "taken". All four of us went to the pub that evening and Patrick and I really sparked off each other and when I told him I had about 50 bootleg albums of Bob Dylan he immediately wanted me to come round with my collection. I still was not sure whether he was available but I think my Dylan collection was irresistable to him. Two weeks later we went on a cycle ride, but we didn't do much cycling. He came back to my flat for a "cup of tea" and we have been together ever since. That was in August 1985. PJ

I moved back to the area after working away and went out for a drink with a friend ... and he was arguing with an ex-girlfriend. He was being a complete a*se and got kicked out when he slapped her. I invited her out for a meal away from everyone's stares and 15yrs later we've been married 18 months, have 2 great children and treat everyday like we've just met.
(Nope ... the *friend wasn't invited to the wedding ...)

what a great thread I met him on New Years Day in the evening in my local pub. I'd gone out with my friend for a "hair of the dog!" and we were about to go home as it was so quiet. He was standing on the steps near the door with a friend and was wearing a black leather biker jacket - and there weren't many bikers in that pub so I went and chatted him up and asked him if he wanted to buy me a pint The rest, as so many have already said, is history. Been together for nearly 14 years now! Jardack

LONG STORY ALERT ! Karl was married to a friend (and I use the term loosely) of mine. She was playing away from home and they broke up. I thought she was mental as Karl was (and still is) a lovely bloke and looks fantastic (think diet coke man) Anyhow we got chatting in the street one evening (my ex was slumped in front of the telly watching football and farting) and we became friends. Shortly after that she came back and they tried to make a go of things, in the meantime my ex and me hit the point of no return when he became violent, so we split up. Karl was struggling with his relationship and used to talk to me about it. In the end he left her and went back to his mum's and after a few weeks he contacted me and we went out..............been together ever since and never looked back. Of course the ex's didn't like it but people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones! He is the love of my life and we are very happy. The end. ;D

Lovely happy stories ;D After my first divorce, during a midlife crisis, I told my daughter that if I was ever to meet another man, he would have to come to the door, as I didn't want one. Unless he had long hair, tattoos, a motorbike and liked my kind of music. Be careful what you wish for. He came to my door, I married him, and then came to my senses. I got rid of him and am happily single and intend to stay that way. But I like to see happy couples. Though guess who is coming to my house to celebrate NEW YEAR'S DAY with me? My first husband and his wife.

Had some photos taken when I was a year into my Nurse training (wearing uniform and cap ) - it was something the training school did if you got throught the first year ;D. Sent one to my brother who'd joined the Army and was posted to Germany....he put it up in his locker along with other family photos (bless ). One of his pals asked 'if the nurse was his girlfriend', my brother explained who I was and the pal asked 'if he could write to me'......quick thinking brother said ' he'd have to check with me first' and I believe mentioned something about 'being fussy about blokes' I agreed to write to the pal, providing he spelt my name right ;D (it often get's spelt incorrectly which drives me mad). That was in 1983. We were penpals and we used to meet up when he had leave and go out on the town....... We 'got together' in 1988, after he'd dumped a nutty girlfriend and my then boyfriend decided he was off round the world with a back pack (just didn't fancy the idea of a back pack and nowhere to plug a hairdryer in!!!) We married in 1989.

I met OH when I moved up to London to become an actress. I was sleeping on my friend's floor and she was seeing some guy from Manchester who shared a house with him.
She kept going on about him, what a wonderful sense of humour he had, how intelligent he was and how if she wasn't seeing Manchester Man she he would be together.
Well when I first met him he was slumped infront of the playstation slightly worse for wear and didn't look remotely amusing or clever but for some reason seemed quite taken with me because he followed me into the kitchen and helped me get my hair untangled from my earring.
That was 10 years ago and he still slumps infront of the PS2 slightly worse for wear but he is actually quite funny, but not as clever as me ;D
Oh, and I never did become an actress!

I was getting on a bus - going to a breakfast date back in 1969, top deck was the place for the younger generation - and this 'mod' looking bloke and his mate sat on the back seat - and he winked at me as he went past. Couple of weeks later I saw him again in a cafe and he offered to buy me a curry, I was short of dosh (as were all my mates at the time) and it seemed a very generous gesture. I was still going out with 'breakfast date' guy, but he was going back to Scotland. Ended up at a party with the man on the bus, had a midnight walk on the beach, two months later we moved in together - six months later we got married. 37 years later ..........

I met my OH in a hotel in Brighton - I was working in another hotel at the time and went out to a bar in the hotel he was working in as night porter. That was 1972 four days before my 20th birthday. We got engaged the same Xmas which my ma and pa weren't very happy about! But at the wedding my dad stood up and said he was concerned when we got engaged so quickly but now wished us all the best as we'd saved the depost etc and bought our first flat and here we still are 33 years later!
He infuriates me at times but I wouldn't be without him now!

Met my OH in the pub in the village we now live, his home village. OMG it's just over 28 years ago and he was 18 and I was 20. After that night he was love struck and used to hitch a lift or walk 7 miles over to my Nans to see me everyday. He pestered me for ages and ages to get engaged, I eventually said yes and we married in May 1981. Nothing really exciting I'm afraid but have loved reading all your lots posts

I met G 35 years ago at my wedding, he was a friend of my groom. I was married for 22 years and during that time we remained friends with G and his wife.
My marriage ended, then G's ended a couple of years later. We had always got on well and stayed in touch.
As time went by we saw more and more of each other and we fell in love.
It caused all sorts of grief and accusations, but we are very, very happy together...................

I met my OH on the first day of secondary school, we were 11!! ;D We sat next to each other in many of our subjects but never hung out together outside school as we lived 17 miles away from each other. He says I used to touch his bum in maths and he remembers me doing his hair for him when we were on a school holiday in Dorset, my addled brain can't remember this. We went our separate ways at 16 and I married the worst man in the whole world (please don't try to trump me ladies, he was that bad!! ) then when Friends Reunited started, someone mentioned it to me so I had a look. His was the only name on the list that I wanted to message and was rather excited about it too. He mailed me back and I went and saw him in Greenwich on his 30th birthday (6 years ago 12th october). ;D Our little boy was 4 yesterday!!! ;D Some lovely posts on here. ;D
