I think that I shall risk trying to get some LG - they really were lovely !! RF I could add them to your parcel from me if you'd like. I could spare a few. Wonderful LG but only if you can really spare them and please don't make the package too expensive - have you decided what you are going to say yet?? I'll have a look at the online GC's here as well. Rf

Something weird Ladygardener - I can't seem to find any to buy here - or I am not looking properly. I have sent Olaf a mail to check whether they are fully hardy for here. If they need extra care then it might be better not to send them LG. I will let you know as soon as he answers... RF

Well I have finally found a website that sells them as water plants, not winter hard (need to be overwintered) and are nearly 2 metres tall....I wonder if they are the same plants even...will wait that Olaf gets back to me..

Just heard from Olaf Ladygardener - they have no chance here at all unless you treat them like Dahlias, dig them up and put them frost free for winter..!! RF

It could mean that if we get a really bad winter I'll loose mine too 'tho. Well that's what I have been thinking Ladygardener - it all depends on where you live, I suppose. Keep yours and I will see if I can get any in the Spring. Olaf says that they are sold in some places and he might have some as well. Here in Germany we cover any plants that need a bit more help with fir tree branches, - smaller bits to make a largish pile (layer effect) and even some leaves underneath that and then as you know we pray for a warm snow blanket!! Jasmine and Tig have done well with theirs and Tig gets nasty temps at times. A short very cold spell will probably be OK - it is the long lasting deep frost that kills here.. RF

Yes, we had prolonged ice and snow a couple of years ago Rosefriend, 2 years on the trot and lots of people lost lots of plants. They don't loose their leaves during winter so would be awkward to cover up but we'll see how it goes. I was thinking that since they mostly bloom autumn into winter Rosefriend, you might be lifting them just when they're starting to bloom well.

The more I think of it the more I think it is a daft idea - I have cut all the garden down for winter - they would be cut off in their prime so to speak!! RF

That's what I was thinking, same thing if you wanted to grow Nerine Rosefriend. They're lovely too and I have them in my garden but they could be blooming nov/dec and your garden would be asleep.

I've had Nerine and lost them a few years ago but actually it is a waste of time as really I am tramping all over the plants to get to leaves etc etc... RF

Even with the recent rubbish winters mine have come through unscathed so if anyone wants some please say. I have that vibrant red coloured one and a very pale pink - Pink Princess. The red ones are a real splash of colour at the moment - horizontal wind blown colour!
