... why, when it was 1 degree C in my garden last night, was the hedgehog pooing on my patio instead of hibernating somewhere warm?!!

... why, when it was 1 degree C in my garden last night, was the hedgehog pooing on my patio instead of hibernating somewhere warm?!! It might be a little early yet for hedgehogs to start their hibernation. After all it was still quite warm as recently as a few days ago. There is a useful hedgehog factsheet on the St Tiggywinkles website... www.sttiggywinkles.org.uk/

Doesn't work, Spruance . But don't worry, it wasn't a serious question (I have lots of hedgehog info) - maybe I should have put in a to show it was tongue-in-cheek - I just thought if I were out there last night I'd've been diving for the hedgehog equivalent of a hot water bottle. Brr! OK, it works now - you edited your post - that's cheating!!! PS Excellent site, btw - I have this one bookmarked: www.thehedgehog.co.uk/index.htm but it doesn't have so many details about hibernation.
