I'd cut back my Aquilegia after they finished flowering and they grew new foliage. Now it's all mouldy, would it be ok to cut it back or would that weaken the plant next year.

I'd say - try spraying it with a diluted milk solution first, then if that doesn't help, cut it back. It sounds crazy, but it does work on Asters.
