My favourite runner bean is White Lady. For me it always crops heavily but not for long. The flowers seem to stop suddenly.
Can anyone recommend one with a longer cropping season?

Love White Lady myself. I have never grown Emergo but a lot on the board have and from the posts it seems to be a very good variety... Have a look at the "Grow" board...there are yearly bean growing threads there... it might give you an idea what others have tried and their results.. http.gardenworld.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=2008trialsRF

Ah a bit late perhaps but as the new seed frenzy is starting.... I like Painted Lady you need to get the beans young if you are to cook them as greens but they do well as dry beans as well. The flowers are very pretty and it grows like... well like a very healthy runner bean

Which magazine has done trials on both runner beans and cross runner/french beans. They recomend White Lady for the runner and Firestorm for the cross.

My self saved painted lady seem to crop forever. Agree with the picking them young comment though. They do get a bit stringy as they mature, but the older ones dry well, and of course save for sowing next year.
