Does anyone still write personal Letters - you know when you get out a pen and some nice paper or a pretty postcard and pen your thoughts to a friend, pop in an envelope with a stamp and POST IT I have written a short one this morning to GF who is always sending me nice cards in the post - took me ages I tend to email or text which is lazy ;D Speaking to a teenage girl in the office the other day she said that it hurts her hand when she writes - not used to it - so tends to not bother - difficult she says when she has to write an essay for school who insist it isnt typed on a computer Anyone else still write the odd letter - think of the joy the other person gets when it lands in their letter box - I try to decipher the writing first to see if I can guess who from and then have a lovely surprise at the pretty card inside or the personal thoughts Let's have a Write a Letter Day and everyone write to someone

I usually write a letter and enclose it in Christmas Cards which I'm sending abroard and we did write to an Uncle who lives in NZ now and again but now he is having trouble with his eyes so we get on Skype instead so we can all see and hear each other

I used to write every week to my Mum & Dad as they were so far away when we first got married and moved up here. I wrote to a few of my elderly Aunts until they passed away, but these days folk would rather email or text short greetings. I do a catch-up letter at Christmas for all my close friends and remaining family members who are dotted around the country. I like writing letters, it's a shame not many others do.
You are spot on Jen when you say about a hand written letter dropping through the letterbox - it was exciting and I do miss it

No, apart from the ones I write in Xmas cards. I'm like the young girl, whenever I have to fill in a form or similar, my hand really hurts I always associate letters with bad news

Only things I post are thank you letters and cards and grant applications and stuff for the fundraising group. I tend to type things nowadays as it's quicker, less messy in both the handwriting and scribbling out stakes and quicker to send via email etc. Stamps cost too much now to just send things, still cheaper than me taking it there myself, but a helluva lot more expensive than me just emailing it or skyping etc. Apparently, National Letter Writing Day is 21st May

Yes, I write to my sister regularily. She has refused point blank to 'get techie' until this year, when she's finally caved in and bought a lap-top. She's going to classes to learn how to use it, but e-mailing seems to be one of the last things they learn! i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/rolleyes.gif I also write (type) a catch-up letter to lots of people at Christmas. Otherwise, I use e-mails to keep in contact, mostly, but I do send (short) letters in birthday cards.

It really hurts me to write more than a few lines but I can type no problem. I don't write any letters and the only cards I send are those with plants to folks on here.

Funnily enough, I have to write a letter to an old friend today. I keep e mailing her and getting them returned I think I'll just write a note in a card though, and enclose the printed out e mail............or is that cheating?? ;D
