Although I hate the thought of this I did wonder about having some of this laid on my paving stone area but not sure if going to be expensive As very very heavy waterlogged clay soil I have had to have all my lawns taken up - they resembled mini lakes most of the year Has anyone used this - advice please ;D

I haven't used it Jenny, but I have seen it. It looks much better than it did years ago quite realistic Have you seen what Tig has done, or even my new cobbled area - they would be my preference, but the grass doesn't look too bad if that's the look you want

Yes I took a tour round her garden very impressed The paved area is huge and I dont want to spend a lot of money on it as it is mainly for the doggy exercise playing football area - the council look paving slabs look awful at the mo - I had them put down years ago when I had three very active large doggies Am having my front drive jet washed shortly so I will ask his advice Unless I ask Tig to loan her OH out

I'm sure it's quite expensive Jenny, we it is at B&Q, I've seen some paving somewhere that's been painted it looked really good, I'll try and find a picture for you.

I don't think the artificial turf is all it's cracked up to be. I've read that it doesn't last very long if left out in the elements, and the stuff they had in B & Q was equivalent to £10 -£16 per sq metre dependent on the length of the 'tufts'. I suppose you could roll it up and put it in the garage over winter if you were only doing a small area x Tig

Thanks Tig I am having a quote done with a 10 year guarantee - will keep you all posted - but anything is better than the Council Slabs I have in the back garden at the mo - not very attractive at all

JennyWrenn we've not seen you around much, did you ever do anything about the artificial grass? My neighbour had a guy arrive today in a car covered in the artificial grass and I nabbed him and asked him roughly how much for my little bit of grass. £700 he quoted me and it's just about the width of an average sized lawn mower around a flower bed with pots around it. He told me he'd have to charge for the middle bit where the flower bed and pots are even if that bit is'nt used as it all comes from one piece. I think I'll stick to my grass for now.

In our front garden we have the middle part with gravel (opposite way to you) and I love it as I can have my tubs on it and get to the sides of the garden as well...I only have a small bit of garden at the front. thats crazy money Ladygardener. I think I've seen Missredhead has mentioned she was looking at having it, hope she's sat down when she see's that price. The other day we were at a retail park and they had some down in part of the car park area, we both mentioned how good it looked. OH has also seen it in the front garden of a house where he was working a month or so ago, they said the only problem they had with it was the odd time birds dropped seeds and they grew.

Yes I have thought about gravel but my Grandchildren love to play in the garden and gravel would be so painful to fall on Rosefriend .

Yes that's what I'd been thinking too Rosefriend. At the end of the day, getting the lawn mower out front from out back and moving all the plant pots, that's what takes up time, not the actual mowing.

That was the exact reason that we got gravel at the front Ladygardener - carrying the mower through the house and then cleaning the mower and still getting grass on the carpet etc... I am so pleased that we did it... RF

The website that I looked at sends out samples to see which you prefer...but you have to fit it yourself or get someone to do it for you...mine works out at around £120 without the weed barrier so in total it'll come to around £140 ish....I thought that I mmight sell my mower which isnt very old and I have a brand new strimmer too so I can use that money off the total...shouldnt cost me too much then.
Here is the website...http://www.grass-direct.co.uk/

Wow Missredhead that's a heck of a lot cheaper than the guy quoted me although mine includes drainage and laying. I was speaking to my neighbour who is definately going to get it and her quote was around £1,300 but she has more green space than I do. It's them charging me for the huge bit in the middle of my garden which won't be covered that gets me. I must check out your website, my neighbour however was saying a lot of places won't deliver to here but there are bound to be lots of places who sell it. In fact I think I've seen it somewhere recently, maybe Homebase.
