Looking to get away possibly with the boss to Keukenhof gardens in Holland in April. Was possibly looking at a 3 night break...going friday, coming back the following tuesday.
I am at a total loss with everything here....best area to stay, best way to get there, best way to get around etc etc.
I was looking at a 4 or even 5 star hotel. I'd probably do one or two days at the garden, one or two days sightseeing.
Not too worried about price but would probably like breakfast in the pack and be able to eat out in the eve.
Any suggestions ? anyone been there and done it ?

Hi I'm new to the forum. I live within 10 kilometres of Keukenhof and have visited on a few occasions. The first thing to checkout is their website. There are special exhibitions and talks that take place as well and maybe you would like to coincide any you fancy with your visit.
Obviously you can fly to schiphol. A ferry or eurotunnel to calais and drive to holland which will take approximately 4 hours. The other alternative is to go by eurostar and then onto holland which is usually covered by one ticket.
Depending on where you stay, you can check out the buses on their website. We have only travelled by car. It is extremely busy getting to the place, small country lanes. There is allocated parking and you cannot park anywhere other than designated car parks for which there is a fee.
There will be long queues for purchasing entrance tickets, but not impossible. The alternative is to buy online with your bus tickets or parking fees etc. I have not done the latter myself.
If travelling by car your choice of where to stay is unlimited, however if you need public transport you will have to take into account of how to get there. It is a tiring day out as there are alot of people visiting. It is a wonderful day out! Be prepared to part with lots of money.
If you need any more info let me know

Welcome to GWD Raggedrobin - good advice.. I seem to remember Dutchy saying something about having been for the first time ever... I mentioned it to my OH but was put off by the crowds... RF
