I know that a lot of us have been wondering about Dr.Bill and hoping that he had managed to recover from his illness. Both Tig and I have been looking in Internet and Tig found an insert in a Church Magazine in Mansfield - St. Philips Neri Church. There are other references as well, it seems there is no doubt.
Dr. Malcolm Powell RIP Please remember in your prayers Dr Malcolm Powell, who died recently, funeral arrangements are: Vigil 24thJanuary at 4.30pm and Requiem 25th January at 12.10pm; please also rememberhis family at this very sad and difficult time.
It looks very much as though he lost the fight and although his chances were not good, where there is life, there is hope, and I know we all hoped that Dr.Bill would make it back to us. DrBill was with us from day one and was always happily seen and a valued member. I rememeber him saying that he had taken early retirement to see his grandchildren growing up and to spend more time with them.
Sadly it was not to be.
We will be sending a card from GWD with our condolences. Should you wish your name to be added then let us know please...
RIP Dr.Bill

I'm very sorry to hear the sad news - I didn't 'meet' him but you've all spoken about him. I don't think it would be appropriate to add my name, do you?

I think that the fact that you care enough to post on this thread makes it very appropriate Geranium. DrBill - his name, became into being because his middle name was William and he loved a G & T in the Diggit !! What a strange world the virtual one is. We have found a Photo of him that the church posted, he was a very regular church goer, but if you look on the Mugshot Gallery there is a wonderful one of he and his wife...not to mention one with his golfing pals... We all knew that the prognosis wasn't good. He was such a lovely gentleman, so polite and very caring. I'm so glad he shared so much with us, even the sad news of his illness, that in itself took courage and a degree of fortitude. As he always signed off ... God Bless

Yeah but I was sort of hoping he'd beaten the odds. It's not fair that all the lovely people get taken away sooner than they should
