Right, back to my day job. On the road side of the tracks, the big sunflower was stolen. On the inner side, by the tracks themselves, I transplanted excess sunflower seedlings. They did alright. Check 'em out. This one has potential...

It's a grand little Sunflower cygnet it should bring a smile to someone passing by. Love those rose hips.

Just as an update. I did plant a few Tesco daff bulbs where I had planted some before but didn't see much success. I'll post photos in the spring if they show.. other than that, I do this too...this is out of town a bit about 15km or so near Howth. In fact, just outside the Model Train/Transport Museum. And across town in the other direction, outside the Castleknock Gate of the Phoenix Park I released this one. Before and after photos.... ewwwww and after several minutes fiddling about with a vice grips.... . About 100m nearer the gate of the Park, I attacked this one.... But I couldn't release it completely. There was a clamp on either side, plus one holding the edges of the cage together. I needed a long screwdriver or something to be able to poke through the mesh and fiddle about with getting a grip on the clamps, you know? But I like doing this as it's a much much quicker way to get a mature tree than planting a seedling and hoping for the best. These are trees that are already adolescents. They just need a bit of tlc. ya dig?

I dig cygnet and well done you. Those poor trees, someone should write a letter to the local council head and let them know that the trees are being squeezed like that.
