Or just move the garden to my garden! Did you see last night's coverage and Titchy Titchmarsh sticking his name on one of Kelways peonies!

Well, that made me crack out laughing - nope didn't see it, doubt I will be able to see evening stuff as such as we have put favourite German programmes as well. Right - so why did he do that then - I take it he thought it was funny?? RF

His is the garden with the burnt oak background and the blond oak pillars which make a walk way round the edge Jilly...I think...you know what's its like trying to remember whose garden is whose! Chelsea has just been on the local news as Roger Platts is a local man and has designed the one and only garden that looks at gardens at Chelsea over the past 100 years. That was it Jasmine the Roger Platt garden, I wasn't paying much attention to what it was mean to represent, I just loved the planting. I know they don't show much on the preview show, but I was thinking that apart from that one & Chris Beardshaw's, there don't seem to be many flowers in the gardens, I know the weather conditions have been dreadful, but when you look at the designs on line, it does seem to be an awful lot of hard landscape & topiary this year

It was a new peony Rosefriend - Coral something or other - and Alan T asked if Kelways were going to sell anything on Saturday and the owner said yes they probably would so Alan T said he'd like that peony. You'd think he could afford to pop back to his hotel and order as many as he liked!!! I can't wait to see who gets what on the medal front. Funnily enough The Telegraph thought their garden was one of the 2 contenders for Best in Show!!

Yes, I am looking forward to seeing who wins what - I have looked at them all from the link that Jilly posted...some once again beyond my comprehension, some too sterile (must have colour in my garden), some that only are special on a second glance and some that I reckon the Aliens have done!! One thing - not many weedy wild flowers ones this year!! RF

I was thinking just the same Rosefriend. There's no Sarah Price type gardens...the sort of thing that made someone last year say that if they gave up mowing their garden would look like the one she created!

I am still astounded that she got Gold for that because it really did look like a garden that hadn't been looked after - our neighbours was very similar although less colour perhaps.. RF

Jilly most if not all of the programmes are on iplayer although there's a bit of a wait as they don't come on right away. I've not seen Prince Harrys' garden but I'm only catching up with it all. I'd much rather have a garden with lots of flowers rather than one with no colour and hard landscaping. I liked Martin Cook's garden too, all the plants are easily accessible to most people which I like too. They do seem to speak to random celebs Jasmine . I'm just watching the bit about Prince Harry now, lovely how they chose the name.

Just as I sat down to watch the midday Chelsea Flower Show, decorators girlfriend arrived (my hairdresser) and so I didn't see much, if any..
Is there a list somewhere of who won what, preferably with pics??

I think Jinny Blom must be doubly miffed - a) that people are referring to it as Harry's and b) that she missed out on Gold Chris B's and one oyher ( can't remember which) are the only really floriferous ones imo. I like the Aussie garden though, what point Jasmine?

It said in the paper on Saturday that the Ozzie gardens never won anything significant at Chelsea as they focused on outdoor Ozzie living and the judges weren't interested in outdoor dining areas with slick sitting and cooking facilities they wanted to see planting...so this year they got planting...and the Ozzie garden wins Best in Show! May be complete coincidence! I don't think you do a garden with a member of the royal family - particularly a high profile one - and expect your own name to figure highly!

Thanks for info JasmineI know, but it's not fair...what does Hooray Harry know about gardening?? I applaud his charity but am glad the judges weren't swayed by his involvement into giving a Gold...........although I do like the garden ( as I'm overrun by forget me nots at the moment )

We were discussing how much gardening the royal family actually do at school today - apart from having a chat with ones plants! Not a lot we felt!

I'm loving the coverage and is'nt it great the weather has behaved too. I'm sure I heard somewhere that Prince Charles has ordered some plants from one of the exhibitors. I like the Australian garden as it's supposed to be their last year I'm sure they're doublely delighted. They certainly take gold for their reaction to the win.

Wow, what a difference in price they're going for!
I keep hoping for a look round the Sentabale garden.
I didn't realise lilies in pots needed ericaceous compost.

I think they preferr it Jasmine but mine grow well in the usual mix. Elton John is raising quite a bit fo money from the looks of things, he also seems to have signed it.

Thought she said some varieties need ericaceous, some don't....but i stand to be corrected on that I think you're right Andy - I wasn't listening properly at that point. None of mine get ericaceous compost though and I wonder if that's why Lily Miss Lucy is always such a failure I'd love Elton's gnome or L L-B's but I'm not paying what they're going for - and they're more than likely to shoot up even more in price at the end!

No need... but it was funny I wonder if PJ is remembering last May? Yes I am remembering last May girls. I came across one of the Chelsea buses whilst shopping in Central London and thought about our meeting last year. "I don't want to go to Chelsea" as Elvis Costello sang with gusto; not this year anyway. Too much hype and hard landscaping and not enough proper gardening. I would loved to have met up with the GWD crowd again. It was so much fun last year. I will try and post again more often. I've been on a couple of holidays - Turkey and then France and Germany where there were some beautiful gardens.

I was distinctly unimpressed by last night's show. I wanted to see the planting, but they kept showing how the walls moved in that techy garden. As for the lady with the 'perfect' garden on the Kent Coast, WOT garden? Not a plant in sight! It was a space, that's all, where her family could play a game. I know the programme was probably all about concept gardens, but hmmm... I was not inspired, especially by the huge coloured orchid thingy. They can keep that! Have you seen the B&Q rip-off of the Sentebele garden? For £5, you can have a pack of 3 forget-me-not plants in a posh wrapper. OK, rant over.
