I think it must have been 15-20 years ago that I grew Streptocarpus saxorum regularly every summer - an easy plant to grow and a really good summer flower. I used to take cuttings each year until I think I got a bit bored with them. About 5 years ago they made a come back in the GC's here and just today I saw a load of hanging baskets with them in..had they been a little cheaper I would have got one just for cuttings.... Lovely family of plants...used to grow all the columneas and Aeschynanthus (common name is lipstick vine) in the palm house and the Streptacarpus, Gloxinias and Gesnerias in the cooler greenhouses,

Further progress with my Gesneriads; Scooby Doo has got bigger and what I thought were flowers before were actually calyxes this is how the flower has developed; (see original above for differences) This is another genus that has just come into flower! The flower is about 15mm long or a little over ½" long Codonatanthus - Tambourine;
