Got 200 x 25kg bags of soil improver ready to be spread out over my herbaceous tomorrow. Got a gang of 13 blokes lined up as it's all up hill.
Trouble is, there's frost forecast tonight....not a serious one but enough to turn everything white....the pond probably wont ice over.
I don't really want to bury the frost under 3-4" of compost but i've got to get it on.
What would you do....HELLLLLLLP !!!!
I suppose i could get them to just drop the bags and open them up and put them in small piles and i can spread them out when it warms up a bit.

Oh that's a bugga andy...what's the weather going to be like for the next few days?? We had a hefty frost last night but have 6 - 8degC for the next 3 days and no frost...if you have something like that I would chance it. If not your idea might be the better one... RF

It should have thawed by then, get them to start at the top and work down assuming the frost will hang in the lower areas for longer?

I agree with Tig and looking at the temps for the next few days I reckon it should be OK. We are the same - warming up and getting colder for the weekend again andy.. RF

Yep, all done. It was a bit of a nightmare really. 80 bags of the mulch were already here and i'd arranged for the other 120 bags to be at the garden either monday or tuesday....they didn't turn up.
Got 12 people spreading and moving the first 80 bags....that took about an hour. After a few frantic phone calls to the bloke and lots of cups of tea and bourbon biscuits, the guy finally turns up today with 40 more bags. He said he'll be straight back with more bags.
That took half hour to spread out.
2 1/2 hours later (and more tea and biscuits which i supplied out of my own money) he turns up with another 100 bags which again, takes about an hour to spread.
So im still about 30 bags short but at least the mulch is down and it looks damn good.
I'll get some photos tomorrow.
That's the first of 5 beds we've got to do !!!!!!!!
