Ok, you have a zantedeschia. They appreciate moist to wet soil, i have mine growing in my maginal beds in the pond

Thanks Andy so now I have to look for somewhere wettish ???as I don't have a pond mind you it has done fine inside!!
Im wondering if I lined a hole with polythene and garden compost, as it likes a bit of sun/shade at the other side of my magnolia stellate ?

You could grow it in a container maggy with not too many drainage holes. Mine never survive a winter here, although they probably would have coped this year.
