Yesterday I bought a set of 6 small shrubs for £7 or so. Each plant was in it's own little pot and the tray held all 6 plants but I mixed them to pick the 6 I liked best. Unfortunately there were no labels on any of them but I thought perhaps some folk here could help identify them. owdboggy Rosefriend Tig Chuckles Barbara I think you all have shrubs in your garden could you help out? I'm hoping they're all quite hardy but won't plant until I get some more information about them. I know this is a holly of some type but would'nt know which, do any of you? I think this might be Choisya Sundance. Sorry it's a bit blurry but the colours are wonderful on this small leaved plant. The grey/silver green branches are lovely on this little one. I wondered if this might be a pieris of some kind. Now I know this is a little Ivy the leaves are tiny but I've no idea which type.

Defo for the choisya and Pieris LG I'll have a better look later at the others, just on a gdn coffee break with Hudl on my lap lol. Nice selection for a winter display. Choisya likes shade and shelter if I recall.

isabella, Chuckles, Thanks so much for your help, at least if I know what conditions they'll like I'll be able to give them a proper home as I have both sheltered sunny and shady spots.

Not too much shade for your Choisya, as it will lose its lovely colour...but it will need some shelter from the wind. No. 3 is a Coprosma, Ladygardener, and they are NOT hardy, so it will need to go in your growhouse for the winter. I've got that pretty little Conifer, but can't remember its name...maybe it will come to me later.

I have just the place for the Choisya and will think carefully about placing all of them. I may just pot them all up and keep them sheltered for winter and plant out in springtime. They're bursting out of their pots.

Ladygardener, Chuckles, isabella, Geranium, Do you think the little Peris would grow ok in pretty neutral soil otherwise I'll have to buy some ericaceous soil and grow it in a pot. undecidex

andy, Thanks a lot, it's actually quite prostrate although I've supported it in the pic. Ment to be suitable for a container. undecidex.

Ladygardener, Pieris must have ericaceous compost (or acid soil) to survive. I was pleased that andy reminded me of the little conifer's name - I'd forgotten it completely. Mine has certainly stayed dwarf.
