Hi all,
Im looking for suggestions for a rose. I know little about the varieties but i know what i want.
The rose must be scented...the stronger, the better
No taller than 1m tall
Preferably have a long flowering period
Readily available
In shades of coral, amber, apricot, orange....but would considder other colours if everything else was right.
Let's have 'em

There will be a single row in the border in the photo. The border will eventually have a 18" high bow top metal fence to stop the little darlings jumping off the edge. Presently, there are a few alpines in there just trailing over the front. It is in full sun in summer and has lovely soil. The purpose is to provide a nice barrier with colourful, very scented roses.

I've got 'Easy Going' which is lovely, andy, and also 'Easy Does it' - similar. Both of them fit your criteria. Sorry I haven't got a link for you.

I can definitely second Chuckles, recommendation of Summer Song (the top one) I did a rose bed for my Mum a few years ago & that's one of the ones I've got in it..... gorgeous scent & wonderful warm colour.... I've been trying to find a space for one for myself ever since.

Yeah that "summer song" is pretty nice. Would look good if i interplanted lavender (Hidcote or munstead) among it too...not decided on that one yet though

Two from me that I have loved for years, both have the "wow" effect - again they are a bit larger but good pruning and they would be around a metre high... Augusta Luisa...wonderful rose and strong scent....could be larger than you want - will top the metre mark later in the year but good pruning will keep it around 110cms I would think.. 2 pics from my garden.. and fully open... or my avatar.. this second pic is from the web, the first from me.. Chatreuse de Parma which is, for me, the most wonderful scented rose I have ever smelt....incredibly intensive smell of Mandarin, Citronella, Hyacinth and Lilac and has won many prizes for scent. Again you would have to prune back hard in spring but it could be done. However looking at that space, I would under plant, or rather between/in front of the roses, with something like Lavender - it would set any rose off very well..

If I remember rightly Ladygardener has ordered one, Tig may have one - could be mistaken though. I haven't got it and I don't think I would buy it, - it is a sort of love/hate situation with it...when you google there are different hues of colours - hope that it is just the rose in different flowering phases and not that people have been tweaking the pics with Photoshop!! If it really is as the pics show then I can imagine it would, be a dream, especially with Lavender underplanted... However I wouldn't get them from T & M - heaven knows what you might end up with!!

I have your beautiful Avatar rose Rosefriend and am so looking forward to seeing it bloom this coming year.# Yes I did go ahead and get that blue rose, from T&M too I think. We will have to see how it turns out next year, worth a go andy.
