In the last few days I have been making plans in my head as to what I want to do in the garden next year...I realised that we all have New Year Garden Resolutions as well... Mine are: ...to remember to spray the Lilies as they come through the ground against the Red Devils... ...to try and get a magic shoe horn (like Tig has) to get double the amount of tomatoes in the GH's and garden... ...to finally plant the 20odd plants that I have waiting in the GH's, in the garden... ...to keep a Garden Diary up to date all the year!! ...to finally do a bit of Guerilla Gardening with some of my seeds that are past the date... ...to get exactly the right time for spreading my first slug pellets. Slug pellets do attract slugs and I have used that to my advantage for many years. The last two years I have had hardly any but in autumn I started getting them again. Once the babies show themselves in Spring, there is a few days time and then "big daddy's" come out and then is the time to spread some of the blue stuff....it works a treat if the timing is right - there are sooo many corpses around !!! ...to be hard and get rid of any Dahlias that I really really do not think are A1 !! ...not to buy any more seeds until I have used at least half of the hundreds (?) of packets that I already have... ...to get my list of give away seeds finished and posted!! ...to finish writing out my Perennial book.. Bound to be other things...how about the rest of you??

Mine will be to not sow things too early (especially tomatoes!), try not to impulse buy plants unless they are ones that I want, replace the tubular metal arches with something more robust, and get the bottom end of the garden finished off, that was on this years to do list! Also must split things in spring that have outgrown their spaces & keep on top of pest patrols (lily & asparagus beetles, aphids, caterpillars plus s & s)!

I am not buying seeds in 2015, and I must sort out the broken obelisk, remove the rose on it and cut back the clems...BEFORE I buy a new obelisk! Then there are over crowded plants to split, and I must get OH to empty the middle compost bin into the 'usable' one as I want to mulch the garden properly in the early spring. I just hope I get my mojo back to get things done. I know I can't make a resolution to get it back, I just have to hope it reappears. Apart from that, I'd like to plan the new bed properly, not just buy anything that takes my eye in the GC.

My back garden is on 3 levels...
Top level is the main decking surrounded by handrail with spindles. This decking is lethal in winter so i'd like to cover it in astro turf.
2nd level is 5 foot lower than the decking and i need to get a small section decked. I have the boards, just no motivation. I'll then cover it in astro turf again as this is where the washing line is.
3rd level is about 2 foot lower than the middle section, this houses my greenhouse and my growing area so this needs tidying and maybe a bit of decking too.
So not really a great deal but i'd determined to get it done this year.

Mine is not really a resolution - I'm just being practical as my free time is so limited (not moaning - just a statement of fact! ccheesy)... little or no seed sowing.
Oh, and not too many snowdrop purchases despite Avon Bulbs very tempting catalogue! ccheesy

I'm the same Jasmine and ditto to the seed sowing. I'd just like to do a bit of pottering in the garden gardening I do have to move a couple of my raised beds, well when I say move I really mean dismantle as they have rotted away and are spilling soil out all over the place

That sounds familiar Chuckles! I put a spade through the rotten side of one of the oldest raised beds - oh deep joy - have no time to sort that out - hope it holds together for a little bit longer! I am going to buy a few seedling plants from SR this year if anything catches my eye - I usually get some in the sale and they're always good sturdy little plants. I love seed sowing but it takes up a lot of time and I need to keep on top of the basics.

My intention is to sow fewer tomaotes and maybe other seeds as well. I just don't have the room any more.
The big things will be to replace the supports around the borders, get the grass dug up and put down either slate or some stones instead. It's a real bother dragging the lawn mower out just to mow a little bit of grass but it's too large to cut with anything else. I'll see how it all goes.
