Looking to increase my collection of hardy Salvias...Im interested in the shrubby sort although some of the S. patens types are so nice too.
Currently i have...
S. microphylla 'Cerro Potosi' S. microphylla 'Hot Lips' S. gregii 'Icing sugar' Salvia nemerosa
I'd like some of the deep blue ones....and i'm sure i've seen a pale yellow shrubby type
Must go down to -6 at times

You said that about Fatsias RF lol Hahahaha- do you remember that Fatsia that I bought andy, - well, I "lost" it twice in minus 20/25 winters, dug it out and put it in a tub, then in the GH under fleece for a winter, then it froze back again to a tiny tiny thing - I brought it in the house and last summer it started to recover fully and is in the GH again, under a load of fleece...the poor thing - I bet it doesn't know what has happened to it!! I wonder if it is still alive in the GH !!

Salvia Black and Blue is hardy for me andy, so should be hardy for you too & it's a great colour, my favourite atm though is Amistad (a really dark purple) it gets huge though if it's happy.

Great stuff....always got room for taller stuff.
Im just re-designing a large border which i want lots of hot colours such as Echinaceas, Kniphofias and Heleniums. Need some tall stuff too so Amistad might just fit the bill. The only other taller plant i will have is Actea simplex 'Brunette'

I too grow Amistad and so has Jenny, it's a fabulous sight with all it's wonderful purple flowers and yes, even here mine grows tall.
I've also got African Skies which I've not had for a couple of years and so far so good.
