I'm taking my lovely Other half and 2 little ones to the Eden project for Valentines weekend. Have any of you been? It's another one off my bucket list :-)

I went about 3 years ago.
Having looked after a tropical palm house for Brighton parks and visited Kew on many occasions, i was a little underwhelmed. It was ok but when you have Kew on your door step, not much else compares really.
However, please don't let me put you off, you'll probably love it. Bring back lots of photos for here please.

LOL....no it doesn't.
I'm probably being very picky to be fair. I found the tropical bio-dome to be a little repetitive....there's such a wonderful choice of tropical plants so was a bit disappointed when certain plants (coffee, bananas) were repeated every 20 odd feet.
I found the Mediterranean one a complete mess...no structure, no design, crammed full of bedding plants.
Helligan wasn't far away and that was lovely, although probably better in the summer
Probably just the Virgo in me coming out.

I'm a Virgo too but don't have the horticulture exp you have, so I'm sure I won't look at it the same way you do. The photos will tell :-)

I've been Steve, I posted pictures somewhere, it was absolutely brilliant, when I went through the glass doors I was amazed at the size of the place, there is stuff to do for kids as well, don't miss the allotments either. I went back a couple of years ago and took my Daughter and Gks, they loved it too, there is a zip wire to take you down to the bottom near the cafe, and land trains run around as well. if you go by car make sure to make a note of where you park, all marked with fruit pictures, as otherwise you'll never find your car again.

I've been multiple times, try to get an offer if you can as it's £24 to get in. That said, it's a good day out and you can probably get family tickets. The food is quite reasonable ( both to eat and in price) Andy is the only person I know who has been disappointed with Eden. There's lots for kids and the outside areas are as interesting as indoors - although probably not in February Enjoy stevemc, P.S. I'm Virgo too

Im probably disappointed because i've seen the best.....palm house and Princess of Wales conservatory at Kew, as well as looking after an amaizing palm house for Brighton parks for several years.
Not much else compares.

That's discounting all the outside stuff though Andy, all the spring bulbs, all the allotments, the herbacious beds. the cakes in the cafe.

That's discounting all the outside stuff though Andy, all the spring bulbs, all the allotments, the herbacious beds. the cakes in the cafe. To be honest Barbera, i found the grounds disappointing too. Allotments....i can see that anywhere, the herbaceous was limited in the extreme....although the orange Alstroemaria were lovely. The herbaceous in my garden at work knocked that into a tin hat....and my herbaceous doesn't touch the long border at Wisley. Seriously though, please ignore my rants....i set the bar far too high again because of having so many decent gardens on my doorsep
