Thanks for flagging that Tig, useful to know. I was inspecting a few pots of them yesterday when I went up the garden. They are some I've grown from seeds and have been waiting a few years now to be planted out . They were sprouting lovely so fingers crossed its not got here. I'll be checking the ones in the borders.

I saw this in our papers as well Tig, - they said to get rid (burn) any A. showing signs of it...not so easy it seems!!

It is such a shame the lady who grows one of the national collections has got it. Must be devastating when you've put so much time & effort into gathering all the various types.

I really felt for that lady too but being a gardener she always has hope. As she says, hopefully some of the strains will be stronger and resist this awful disease and with some genetic modification new more resistant plants can be grown. I love Aquilegia and my garden would be lacking something without them. I'll be keeping a close eye on mine, all my Aquilegia are attacked every year by tiny caterpillars as small as the nail on my baby finger. Now I have something esle to look out for. Jasmine Jilly theinsidegardener I know you all grow Aquilegia too.

I hadn't heard about this - poor lady. I have a hard time growing aquilegias as they seem to be one of the rabbit population's favourite snack but there are some amazingly beautiful ones about.

In my garden they're short lived Perennials, I never know if they'll come back or not and sow seeds of some kind of them every year to be sure of having some.

How strange LG, they are thugs in my garden. Strange how some things do well for some and not others, last year I had to pull loads out as they were taking over with my garden having being neglected for quite a while.

Strange how some things do well for some and not others, last year I had to pull loads out as they were taking over with my garden having being neglected for quite a while. At most they'll last a couple of years for me unfortunately not much longer but I do try to save seeds each year.
