Hi All Just been given a couple of wisteria seeds today how do i grow em cos my propagation book says nowt except layering and i would like to try and get em to grow keithb

They can be grown from seed but it's a waste of time as they can take up to 20 years to flower and the plants don't grow "true" (they are often totally different from their parent)
If you want to have a go, i suggest soaking the seeds for 24 hours before sowing approx 1/2" deep and then keep warm in a propagator or on a window sil. Germination can be erratic and very slow. Good luck

20 years andy,...phwoar - well we gardeners do tend to have patience (except for my neighbour that wants everything flowering it's socks off when she buys it - even the tomato plants should have ripe toms, salt and pepper and Mayo on them!!) but 20 years is too much for me... Are you still going to have a go keithb,??

Its just coming into flower now, more flowers than last year thankfully but I have to say its a bit of a weedy specimine. I like the foilage though and keep it because I grew it
