I have bought one of these and would like some advice. It is one which will grow to 5ft in height and spread. It is a good sized shrub. My question is how much of a sheltered position does it need to be, as my site is pretty exposed to all elements (mainly wind and sun). Any advice much appreciated.

I've got a lovely Philadelphus Belle Etoile and it's happy up against a wall for shelter bagpuss but we do get strong winds all year long here and it and the Acer that I grow in a pot seem to do ok. Hopefully someone can give you some advice.

Sybilla which is a dream but a friend has Philadelphus Lemoinei - full sun (wind - plenty) and is great - lovely scent and as I do, he cuts the longer stems off - they can thrown out some longer stuff and I have had mine years and it is still good...I think that is the trick, to watch the longer stems..keep it compact.. Mine is flowering now and with the cooler temps the blooms are holding longer...
