Ok, im trying to learn as much about Roses as possible as i'm really starting to appreciate them.
I have several areas of the garden at work that i'd really like to grow roses in order to compliment the existing perennials
However, i have a very precise shopping list of what i need from the roses. Here's my ideals.
1) They must be strongly scented. No point growing roses unless they smell nice.
2) They must be as disease and drought resistant as possible
3) No taller than 3 feet
4) Have a long flowering period and/or be good repeat flowerers
5) Be able to grow with Lavender as an underplanting.
6) Wouldn't mind being grown as a small hedge possibly
I'm looking for a brilliant red (scarlet), copper (apricot/orange), bright yellow and pure pink.
My soil is loamy chalk and very free draining. I will incorporate lots of organic matter at planting time. Plants will be in full sun.
Any suggestions ?

Sorry Andy - only just seen this....blimey - you know what you want - perfection - hahaha!! Very difficult for me as our roses often are known under a different name...such a shame that you can't get Angelface in the UK - I think everyone who has one would say what a wonderful rose it is.... I will tag Geranium as she has a lovely rose collection, Tig too, and Chuckles, Ladygardener, Ron - infact most people on GWD..... I will have a look on the web - have you seen anything that you like already??

None of my roses fit Andys specification, they are either the wrong colour, too tall, not enough scent, or are prone to black spot (can you tell I'm not an expert? ) What about Darcey Bussell for the red one, Lady Emma Hamilton for the apricot/orange, Golden Beauty for the yellow, and Harlow Carr for the pink? All scented & repeat flowering. Not sure if they all fit the height restriction, or how healthy they are, but I'd give them all a home

Thanks guys.
Popped up to Wisley on Wednesday and their Rose garden was truly inspirational. An absolute riot of colours and scent even at this time of year.
I took photos of likely candidates and their labels so i have about a dozen or so to work with.
If you have any more suggestions, please keep them coming

Take a look at 'Easy Going' and 'Easy Does it', andy. I grow both of them behind my lavender 'hedge'...and I think they fit your criteria.

I ended up with mine to the side of another rose and perennial so that the heavy blooms fell/leaned on the other plants and stayed upright...

Might substitute "golden celebration" for "Molineux"
Thanks for the suggestions.
Any more suggestions for shrub roses ? I've got R. rugosa but need suggestions for decent species roses which have superb scent.
