Sorry Andy not a clue but daft thinking says build a lid over them that way the heat stays trapped.

Hi Andy I built a heated propagater table 2 years ago and a cover last year. It`s 2' X 8' with 80' of soil warming cable and thermostat. so far I`v only grown seedling and not had the chance to use the new cover . not sure how hot it gets , the sand didn`t feel that hot to me when it was on full. One piece of advice I was glad of was to make sure the table legs are supported on something solid , I used small pavers , otherwise if it stands on bare soil it will sink with the weight of the wet sand .

I made a frame with legs first, then a box which sits on top . This is it before I added cable and thermothat. I lined the table with polystyrene first, covered that with plastic, put a layer of wet sand down , laid the cable on top of the wet sand and covered it with another layer of wet sand . finally I put a layer of plastic over the sand so the plants don`t grow into it .  |

I'm going to be doing something similar pothead. I have some spare decking boards so i'll make it out of those. It'll be lined with heavy grade polythene then sand-cables-sand.
Will probably start it this weekend so will take photos.

Looks very proffesional and a great thing to have in the GH. There was a time when I considered getting OH to make me one for seeds and for overwintering some pots.
