Taking the last topic first, even our other amphibians aka Mr Frog and family simply cannot seem to keep pace with the slugs this year and as I am loathe to resort to slug pellets, I wondered if anyone had tried or had any success with nematodes?
Nematodes were supposed to be the ultimate slug solution when they first came onto the market but I haven't heard much about them since and wondered if they were still available, and if they actually work?

I was talking to Jim Buttress....he of the great allotment challenge fame, a few weeks ago and he suggested nematodes. Apparently you can only get them online and need to be applied now.
Ive had serious problems with terrestrial slugs this year eating my daffodil buds before they come up. With a 3 acre garden and half a million bulbs to protect, pellets are the only way for me.

Beer traps are fairly safe for other creatures Spruance, and they do trap lots of S& S. I just flick the bggrs out the next day so the beer stays fresher longer.

I suppose pellets are ok if you are prepared to lie in wait with the slug pellet gun (isn't that how they work? ) but they're not for me and I don't think beer traps are really practical for large scale work, although thanks for the suggestion. I'll google Nematodes and see what comes up.

Spruance, I used them last year at home in my very small garden, and they seemed to work pretty well for me.
