Does anyone use them or have them? Where do you put them? Do you use a combination one or do you buy homes specific to the Mason Bee and perhaps another for ladybugs?

I have a 'bug house' fixed to the shady side of the garage. I've seen hoverflies using it, but also spiders!

I made my own it's screwed to the back fence in the shade, it has fir cones, wood with holes in, plant pot with straw and tubes of plant stalks tied together.

At this point if they help pollinate I don't care. lol Not keen on spiders here either. I know there are bats in the area but I try to get inside before they come out at night. Have you noticed bugs making a home there? Sounds neat.

I Have seen ladybirds around but nothing else, I'm hoping things will come in for the winter, we have bats flying in the front of the house low level, where there are always lots of moths in the evenings, when they fly at the back they are very high up.

Ladybugs are good. I want to have them around. Them and bees. Last year we had quite a few, this year not so much. Last year I had a lot of calibrachoa, dahlias and verbena. Maybe one of those attacks bees more. I thought I'd hang it from the hickory tree, Close enough yet not too close to be a problem.

I have a small one - been there for about 4 years and seems to be inspected on a daily basis....I've seen things going in and in the winter the tits and sparrows often are there, so I bet some insects are overwintering in there...
My garden is full of bees and butterflies, it's lovely to see them all..
