First time growing these after seeing them on one of the TV gardening shows last year (not sure if it was GW or BG though). They are supposed to have a really good flavour and I've grown one in the WIG and another in the veg plot. The one in the WIG has gone mad, it is in a trough which was well fertilized before I planted the seedling. The one in the veg plot is just in some home made compost and not doing quite as well. I may not get many, but at least I'll be able to try one - evidently it has to go red before it is ready.

I had a little google Tig they look good. One site I saw says they're delicious roasted and you eat the skin as well.

I'll let you know what they taste like - after the hype about them I'm hopeful for a bit more flavour than most squash and pumpkins.

It was supposed to taste a bit roasted chestnutty, but I couldn't say I noticed it much myself. It roasted beautifully and unlike most squash the skin was tender and edible. It was a lot of effort for just the one squash though. I'm not sure I'd bother again. I've saved loads of seeds if anyone wants to try it.

Well at least you gave it a go Tig. I'm trying to grow 1 thing different each year at the plot and would love to give it a go if you do have some spare seeds.
