Are there any recommended companies that you guys use to buy your veg seeds etc from or are Garden centres and the big seed companies just as good?

stevemc, I think if you can find a site with some discount I'd go with that. I recently ordered seeds from D.T.Brown have used most of the companies over the years. Depends on how many pks you want too and if it's popular veg or flowers or something out of the ordinary. I think it's T&M who say if you buy 5 packets, you only pay for 4. Van Meuwen have seeds for less than £1 per packet. I've found both companies as good as any other.

stevemc, - although I live in Germany I do on occasion buy in the uk. Seed Parade is one - they have flash sales and things are reduced at the moment I think... www.seedparade.co.uk/I also got some good offers at Fothergills UK over Christmas...good veg there...

If there is a Wilkinsons store reasonably close to you their own brand seeds are competitively priced and I have found them to be reliable when it comes to germination.

I've bought a few vegetable seeds from Chiltern Seeds this year (online) they have a few heritage varieties too.
