This morning I've sown cucumbers; baby sweet crunch and nimrod. The sweet crunch ones from Chiltern seeds were BLUE! treated with fungicide which I'd not seen before. The nimrod are T&M. Also sown, sweetcorn 'swift', sugar snap peas, rocket 'dragon's tongue ' and a really interesting mix of runner beans from Chiltern's called 'Jackpot Mixed'
My tomato seeds (legend), chilli (Pikito) and peppers (cant remember the type offhand) have germinated and all being well I'll be pricking them out next week...weather permitting...

The cucumbers have germinated! Today I've sown a little courgette from T&M called midnight that's supposed to be good in containers.

The toms have grown big, well my own yellow cherry has. It is fighting the Manx Marvel for first place in tallest plant on the window sill. The Iditarod tom is taking it slow but not as slow as another bush tom that has no name. I took the seeds from a friends grafted bush tom. I could not spot the graft and thought he had been fibbed by the GC. So far this nameless bush is growing slow but fat so maybe I was right after all. Once it is fruiting I will take pics of it and pester Rosefriend if she recognizes it. What with you knowing well over a thousand sorts... I need to plant my cucs up as the new leaves are showing. I started some more Parsnips they are slow ones and I only have my own seeds from last year. I hope they will grow though as I so love Parsnip. Especially in a pumpkin dish. I have lettuce growing but now need to sow more as a follow up. Those will get warmer weather and lettuce does not like that. I'll need a lettuce that does not bolt too fast. Any suggestions?

I like little gem Dutchy, but I don't know if it bolts in the heat, we don't get a lot of that here. The beetroots I sowed into the ground are not showing, I did some in modules and they are up, so tomorrow they are going out into the big wide world.

Dutchy, I've heard that oak leafed lettuce are slower to bolt and tolerate hot weather. Beetroot are up and growing in their cells, I could'nt risk planting them out yet. Cucumber well, I've lost one, another is on it's way out and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the 3rd one. All the squash are doing grand. Broad beans have been planted out as have the peas although the slugs have been munching them.

Ladygardener, Good thing I have oodles of oakleaf as well then. I think I will see if I can dig up the seedpackage as I seem to mislay things these days. Hurray on the beetroot. No point in planting perhaps, mine have been out for quite a while but are not growing as yet. Too cold nights. My cucs are stretching and I now wonder if one can plant them deep just like toms. My Pattison and strange seed courgette Rondo de Nice was first to come. So as Pumpkin tend to be slower I now feel more at ease that it is a courgette indeed. And yup the Pumpkin still sleeps.... Ah and now for a miracle..... my carrot seedlings are still on the bed instead of having been annihilated. shhhh don't mention it to the gods...... I am preparing the GH for the toms. This year I will try 4 tablespoons of Epsom salt per hole I think. Just to compare with last years aspirine. Other than that we have a plant swap next weekend and I need to go and see what veg or pretty plants I can bring. I hope some one will swap me Swede as I failed at raising those once again.

My Beetroot in their cells are sitting in the garden too Dutchy. They'd be eaten if I took them to the plot 'tho. Good luck at the plant swap.
