He doesn't know why but they just do! Also changes in temperature and watering can cause it. They may also drop branches but that is natural and not necessarily a cause for worry.

Hm thanks for asking around mickthecactus, It will remain a strange thing then. It happens but why? Because some plants are fickle. As far as I know they are the only ones that clearly show dislike of being turned around.

Hehe Mick lovely though it is. My Ivy tends to flower very differently Did you forget to empty the basket of annuals? Plenty of people now seem to have impossible things flowering. Soft Winters eh?

Nope, it's a real flower attached to the plant which is Senecio macroglossus variegatus. It is an exact copy of ivy though.
I hate ivy.....
