Last night on the news, they gravely announced, "that there may be some possible food shortages." Now if that isn't a way to promote another round of panic buying, like they did last time, I don't know what is. They haven't yet shown any empty shelves, but I bet they'll be out looking for some. It's totally irresponsible reporting, though sadly they aren't alone in this.
Tuesday is my usual week's shopping day, I left home a bit earlier than usual, 8.45 a.m. to go to Tesco's at White City. They seem prepared for massive queues, given the rows of barriers outside. Inside it was as busy as it is usually, around 10.00 a.m. It wasn't helped as there were quite a few girls with trucks picking on-line orders. Fortunately, there was no evidence of panic buying. There were like mine, full trolleys as you'd expect just before Christmas, but I didn't see any multiple purchases of the samer items.

Very different in our Co-op, queue to get in and the salad shelves picked completely clean. Didn't look in the toilet roll aisle as we will never have a toilet roll crisis in this house but once the news have told folk there is no need to panic buy then that is exactly what will happen.

Actually, After no doubt a dillgent search, the Daily Mail today, was able to print a picture of an empty bay in one aisle of a store.

I thought exactly the same, the media fan the flames every time, making those who are prone to panic, panic! A few empty shelves here but still loads in stock at the moment.

Can't believe I have to write this status again! There isn't going to be a flour or bread shortage because they have closed the borders for a few days... but there will be if people rush out and buy it all and create an artificial shortage! So please don't do that because #TeamNiceBuns are tired 😂 The UK only imports 15% of flour from France... and most importantly the best imported flour to make bread comes from Canada 🇨🇦
This was a post on FB this morning, as obviously we have to be told how to act responsibly. there were no shortages when I went shopping, and as the mutated virus is already in France they are just playing games as is the norm for them.

With France having shut it's borders to the UK, supermarkets are now warning of fresh produce shortages such as cauliflowers. Maybe they will now be forced into buying more British cauli rather than importing from Europe which makes complete sense and should always have been the case. The British winter cauliflower season runs from October through to March, so still plenty of it about! Just buy British! And preferably local to your area. #supportbritishfarmers
I have never understood it, it makes no sense to have more lorries on our roads from the continent, then go on about global warming from greenhouse gasses, and we have vegetables growing in a field down the road.

There are a few farm shops outside the city but basically every city supermarket or convenience store sells the same imported stuff. I can't get to the farm shops because I don't drive and they don't deliver .
I only needed sprouts as I had a Asda delivery on Sunday with the few bits needed. Jeff picked up the sprouts from the local Tesco Express this morning.
If I can't get fresh veg after crimbo I have a few tins in my Brexit cupboard, also I froze lots of my home grown veg...carrots, green beans, peppers, tomatoes and cauliflower and cabbage from my neighbours allotment.

As ever, the BBC news trying to be more dramatic, this morning announced that there were problems for kids not being in school as "many of them are laptopless"
ffs.
Reminds me of a US comedy programme decades ago, when in a spoof TV news programme the presenter said, "Due to the hurricane many costal residents had been left condominiumless."
