Does anyone have one of Jilly's yellow peonies?
It gets quite big and I was wondering if anyone pruned there's to keep it a certain size. I pruned it one year but obviously at completely the wrong time of the year (perhaps there isn't a right time of the year) and got no flowers.
I would like to give it a tidy up but I don't want to spoil it.
Thank you!

I have had to prune mine a couple of times, & Jill said she had pruned hers too. I accept that the plant won't flower as well the following season but if you still leave some growing buds on they will flower. Autumn is the right time to prune them I think, and the oldest woody stems can be cut back to the base. I have pruned some of the stems half back but it is touch and go if they sprout lower down the following year or just die back, I've not killed it though, yet!

Thank you! I'll have a look at it and see if I can prune some of it and leave some growing buds on it. I was sorry to lose all the flowers the year I got carried away but it gets quite huge!
