This one is the old plum earlier this year. The buckets are there to prevent rain from entering the tree. Amazing how a dying tree can be rescued by removing the top and the heavy branches aka cutting it back to the brink.

Thank you Ladygardener, It is still there and actually going stronger and stronger. So amazing. This tree has al kinds of fungus as you know and it had these tinder fungus the one people use to keep glowing embers in to start a new fire elsewhere. That fungus has now completely gone. I never knew that could happen. There is dead wood inside the tree and most of it has actually turned into compost. The sides are getting stronger as if the tree regrows its own innards. Plums, now those are a question as we do have all sorts of beasties that eat them from the inside or make the fruits fail or are not there to fertilize it and so on. I will see. It sure flowered good this year.
