We've had them all. I guess we have a bit of a "thing" about coffee.
Starting in the seventies with a Cona with the little meths heater underneath.
Remember those in the days when you didn't need a mortgage to buy Blue Mountain beans?
For a few decades we had different filter machines.
Then a Kitchenaid Artisan ten years ago, plus a Cuisinart burr grinder.
The Kitchenaid was a pain as it kept going wrong. Much like the Kitchenaid four slot toaster that had to be replaced twice!
Three years ago I ditched the Kitchenaid coffee machine as it got too expensive to repair. So we bought a little Smeg.
That was half the price of a Kitchenaid and made just as good coffee.
Then shortly before Chhistmas, my wife saw this Sage bean to cup on one of the TV shopping channels she watches, we both liked it so we bought one.
A Sage.
So the Smeg and the grinder got boxed up and put in the garage "in case of emergencies."
As a machine it was brilliant. It is a popular machine. One appeared in two different houses in the Emilia Clarke 2016 film, "Me Before You." Another appears every week on a back counter as a bit of "set dressing," in the BBC programme Saturday Kitchen Live according to my wife.
Unfortunately, after a couple of months one of the many knobs on it became rather stiff, so I emailed the shopping channel to ask if I could have it replaced. They agreed and sent a carrier to pick it up. Less than a week later the replacement arrived.
As I unpacked it I noticed it was a different colour, but wasn't that bothered. In fact I was even less bothered when I realised they'd sent me this.
It's a "Barista Touch." They are about £500 more expensive than the one that they replaced. I didn't complain!
They are fully programmable. It even cleans the milk frother after use, so it doesn't get clogged.
We have a coffee in the morning and one about 9.00pm. I make them with Taylor's Italian blend beans, chocolate sprinkles and Amaretti biscuits.
