Hello I think this might be the place to put it, not too sure whether I would class them as livestock or not...
I would like to keep Quail in the garden, mainly for eggs and as something "a bit different", I know they are very small eggs but I don't fancy keeping anything as large and noisy as chickens. A few friends have chickens and I have been put off a bit because of the damage they can do to the veg patch when they make a bid for freedon
Has anyone got any experience in this field? I'm after some pointers as to where to start, what I might need etc... before I make a decision as to if should or not.
Thanks Paul

I can't offer much advice about Quail as I've never kept them, apart from the fact that they are quite large birds and may need a fair bit of space but have you thought of Bantams? There is a huge variety of types, they are quite easy to keep, lay small eggs, need a small amount of space comparatively, are just as useful in a garden scheme and are very very ornamental. Just a thought.
