When I got home yesterday (I left early as I was poorly) I was greeted to a disarray of small birds feathers all over the hall, and the complete tiny head of what was once either a bluetit or a coaltit.
Bloody cats!

I know what you mean sleepy, but at least it wasnt a Rat, my friend had a rat deposited at her feet, by the cat as a present, whereupon it got up and ran under the china cabinet! Jackie screamed and the cat bolted.......

I guess you've tried putting a bell on him?
I should reiterate that I'm a cat person, but I hate it when they bring in trophies. My cat tends to leave the feet.

We've got a bell on Penny because I know she's a hunter and very interested in the birds when she was kept inside.
When my sister got married (for the 3rd and final time.... <sigh>) we had the wedding reception at our house and when we got back, my cat Jo (the one I'd had from a young age) had left a dead squirrel and a magpie on the lawn. Think that was an omen.
She also once managed to somehow get my hamster out of the cage, or the hamster escaped I dunno, and came trotting downstairs with it in her mouth and then pestered to be let outside. Luckily my uncle was visiting, told the cat to drop it, which she did and then put the hamster back into her cage and she was absolutely fine.
Dabs (the one I adopted as a stray in 1999) used to go into the fields at the back of the house when I first got her and used to chase, kill and partially eat rabbits. I tried collars with bells on but she always always always managed to get the buggers off so I ended up supergluing it on. Not to her neck I mean the loose end to the collar. That one stayed on and then she behaved with the subsequent ones.
God I love cats :-D

My Bill cat used to hunt a lot (baby rats - HURRAY!) but is getting a bit elderly now (sob). He used to regularly catch baby rabbits but would always leave their heads (bleah). I would rather they didn't catch birds but sadly that's the the rule of nature whether we like it or not. A rat live, in my house, whereabouts unknown, would reduce me to a gibbering wreck. I'd rather eat kangeroo's testicles...........(not).

I remember once when I caught Dabs with a baby rabbit in her mouth and it was still alive. I grabbed her, shut her in the house and shooed the baby rabbit away into the field. Feeling very pleased with myself I watched it bound into the field and felt I had done my good deed for the day. Then I watched in horror as some crows swooped down and pecked it to death.
