Well Eric has no problem with the food he gets given, scoffs it all down and then more. He's chewing the bone thing I bought him, loves his other toys and mainly does as he's told.
Bought an animal gate thing to go across the kitchen door because we figured he's not too bad being left alone, he's just not used to being completely shut in. Absolutely no problems last night, no whining or scratching. OH came down at 5am to let Shads out and Eric was in his bed. Let Eric out for a minute, he went straight out and had a wee and came back in. When we got up at half 8 he was still in his bed and then ate all his brekkie.
He's still trying to chase Shads and Shad's is still steering clear but getting braver.

Hope you've had another good night AL. Really, he's settled down very quickly to stop whining and scratching in 2 nights. You must have done something right! Well done AL, and so pleased he didn't kick-off when Shads stuck his face in his food, sounds like he's gonna have to get used to that! Shads asserting his place maybe? Or just being a greedy pig!

Shads just obsessed with food! He thinks he's a dog at the best of times.
The safety gate thing has really helped tbh. He sits in there good as gold and hasn't met anywhere (touches wood)..... yet! We take him for a walk, he doesn't even wee when we take him out. He waits until he gets home and does it in the garden. Won't go anywhere else. Only problem we have is him jumping up and chasing Shads occasionally. He's learning what walkies means now too.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm picking Schmickles up this afternoon!!!

Years ago I knew somone who got a young dog which had grown up in RSPCA kennels, and he would not do any of his business outside of the house, not even in the garden. It didn't matter how far they walked him, or how long they left him in the garden, nothing...until he got inside the door, and the poor little fellah let it all go!!!! RSPCA said he'd grown up with the idea that where you live ,you poop and too many adopters had failed to get him out of the habit and sent him back. My friends were his last chance. They felt terrible but they just couldn't cope, so had to send him back, even though they knew he'd be put down. They were terribly upset, he was a sweetheart otherwise. So, really, after growing up in kennels, you're lucky he'll do it in the garden. Poor old Shads, his nose is already out-of-joint, and now you're bringing Schmickles!!!!

Shads doesn't seem to care that much. He spends all day either outside or on the bed and he still gets fed and a fuss. The only problem he has with Eric is that he's a lot bigger than the dogs he's used to. The kitten will be smaller than him so probably won't bother him that much.

Picked up the kitten a few hours ago. She's soooooooooooooooooooo cute!!!
Shads was a bit wary, now had a good sniff and isn't worried by her anymore but the kitten is wary because he's getting a bit boistrous for her. She didn't think much of Eric and dabbed him on the nose so he's wary of her.

Schmickles did a death dive earlier off the landing and landed with a rather loud thud on the hall way floor. I thought she'd broken her back but she was just a bit stunned/winded and is now fine.
We're going to get a little cape made up for her seeing as she thinks she can fly... She'd better not ever EVER panic me like that again.
Got some incredibly cute photos on my phone too, they don't do her justice though.
Eric's just had his first hour at training classes and he didn't do much. Was a bit too new for him with too many sights and smells, so we sat most of it out. We'll try again next week with some things we've been asked to try and teach him in the meantime.

Poor Eric! Training classes must have been a bit much after all the new stuff he's had to take in over the last few days! Maybe the poor little guy thought you were taking him back to kennels again when he saw all the other dogs! And Schmickles!!! Whatever was she thinking of! Hope she doesn't try that again!! Glad she's ok.

Oh A, what a delightful crew you've got. Specially love the 'sleeping' photo of lil babies. Keep us posted on their antics. Look forward to hearing about them.

Schmickles keeps spitting at Eric and he's learning to stay clear. Shads doesn't do much though just sits there waiting for Eric to stop looking so he can make a getaway. Eric then thinks he's playing and chases him.
